Te Mata Park Trust appoints new Triple Peaks event organiser

Founded in 1986, Triathlon Hawke’s Bay is a not-for-profit community organisation. An experienced multisport event organiser, Triathlon Hawke’s Bay runs over 20 of its own events every year, plus supports numerous other community events on the sporting calendar.

Te Mata Park Trust Manager, Sarah Austin-Smith, said the Trust was thrilled to appoint Triathlon Hawke’s Bay. “Triathlon Hawke’s Bay demonstrated the experience, professionalism and capability needed to run an event of this scale,” said Austin-Smith.

“Triple Peaks is a popular event with a rich history, and we’re delighted to be working with a local team who share our enthusiasm for celebrating the natural beauty and endurance challenge of these three peaks,” added Austin-Smith.

Triathlon Hawke’s Bay General Manager, Jeremy Rimene, said the organisation was honoured by the appointment. “Triple Peaks is a legendary event, and we’re excited to bring it back in 2026 with a renewed energy and focus on delivering a world-class experience for participants,” said Rimene.

“We’re looking forward to working with landowners, volunteers, and the wider community to give athletes a truly memorable day out in the hills of Hawke’s Bay,” added Rimene.

The next edition of Triple Peaks will take place in the first quarter of 2026, with the intention to return the event to its full glory – a true triple summit challenge taking on Kōhinurākau / Kōhinerākau / Mt Erin, Kahurānaki, and Te Mata Peak.
