Boost for young bikers as Tamariki Ako re-opens

After an extensive redesign and revamp following damage sustained during Cyclone Gabrielle, Tamariki Ako, the dedicated kids’ bike track area in Te Mata Park, has been officially reopened.

Squarely at the heart of the community

Owners of the much loved Four Square Te Mata, Jake and Sarah Coleman, celebrated two years in operation recently. They marked the anniversary with a generous donation to Te Mata Park’s Ngā Tipuna Fund, to contribute to the long-term financial sustainability of Te Mata Park.

Gifted in perpetuity to the community in 1927 and managed by a small group of volunteer trustees, with appreciated help from local councils and the community, the Park is a cultural, historical and recreational treasure.
