Clive School helping to grow the future of Te Mata Park

These seedlings grow naturally beneath the stunning parent trees around Clive School’s gardens. With the guidance of caretaker MaryLou, who even crafted a special transplanting table for the occasion, and Principal Mr Birch, the students carefully moved each seedling to give it the best chance to grow strong and thrive. These seedlings will be nurtured by the students in preparation for the 2026 planting season in the Park.

Te Mata Park Trust Manager, Sarah Austin-Smith, was delighted with Clive School’s initiative and expressed the Trust’s gratitude for this practical act of kaitiakitanga.

We’re proud to be working with schools like Clive who are actively growing the next generation of guardians for our whenua. We look forward to welcoming in students and whanau from Clive School to plant their seedlings in 2026.
