RONGOĀ: In old Māori times, the leaves of the wineberry, boiled in a little water, made a decoction for burning sore eyes, for soothing burns, and for easing the pain in rheumatic conditions by bathing the affected parts. This was also applied to boils. Alternatively, the bark was boiled in large quantities of water and people suffering from rheumatic joints and similar pains bathed in this for its soothing and healing qualities.
